Mix : Match @ Art Bar + Projects

  • Art Bar + Projects 1873 Granville St Halifax NS (map)

Am thrilled to be collaborating with two fantastic Nova Scotian poets for this suddenlyLISTEN show!

Here’s the description of the night: How does meaning inform sound and vice versa? In a new collaboration, brought together by SuddenlyLISTEN, the poems of Alice Burdick and Cory Lavender will interweave with improvised voice/keyboard music from Ann Denny in a multi-textured play of words, melodies and effects. Poems will alternate, sometimes overlap, always evoke. Expect surprise additions and co-improvisational work throughout!”

The event is at the Art Bar and will also feature many other lovely improvisational musicians who are exploring new sounds! suddenlyLISTEN concerts offer the most creative musicians from around the world, making music for you, in the moment.

suddenlyLISTEN continues its exciting series of concerts on April 13th, with Mix:Match: three sets of three different forms of improvisation, all in the festive atmosphere of Art Bar +Projects in Halifax.

Mix:Match is an extension of last season’s Multiplicity variety show where music and words and movement played together, and people met, talked, laughed and discovered! It was a blast! Mix:Match will feature performances by augmented reality artist and guitarist Amy Brandon, poets Cory Lavender and Alice Burdick collaborating with visionary singer Ann Denny, and Norm Adams; plus a trio of guitar virtuoso Geordie Haley, saxophone powerhouse Jackson Fairfax-Perry and the incredible emerging drummer Morgan Zwicker!

Mix:Match is a casual place where questions can be asked, art can be adventurous and beer can be sipped. Please join us!
